Braves started strongly with their trademark high energy defence and quick outlet passing, hitting their opponents on the fast breaks for easy baskets. Bristol Uni soon managed to get a foothold in the game, controlling the pace and forcing Braves to play their offence in the half court. In the half court Braves struggled with their offense, turning over the ball and getting a couple of offensive fouls called on screens - When they did execute their plays correctly players were often making poor decisions, not taking the wide open mid range shots. Over the course of the next two quarters Bristol Uni chipped away at Braves lead, eventually taking the lead at the end of Q3. As the tight game became increasingly physical, Braves offensive frustrations seemed to lead to a breakdown on defense in Q4, as the same Uni shooter hit three corner 3pt shots in quick succession. Despite a couple of their opponents fouling out and with a full court press at the end of Q4, Braves were unable to regain the lead - Certainly 10 made free throws from 28 attempts didn't help matters! Game MVP Carlos LAGUARTA (who actually made 8 of his 12 attempted free throws) also led the way in scoring with 16 points. Braves will need to 'learn their lessons' quickly from this defeat as they 'head back to school' this Sunday for an away game versus UWE.
