Braves I started the game off well, leading the game from the very start with the help of fast breaks, strong finishes underneath the basket and good team play to find the open, high percentage shot. This led to a half-time score of 38:14 for Braves I.
Aims of the second half were to extend the difference by “running the court”, rotating all players, trying out new defense systems, and to draw fouls against the opponents, who arrived with six players, one of which got fouled out in the second quarter of the game. With 5 players left to play for the remainder of the game, Shock was not in a position to make the game any closer, and Braves won with a clear end result of 69:28.
It will become more difficult against other teams, where every chance to score will need to be used but with further team trainings and intensity, Braves I are in a good position to aim high for this coming season.
First home appearances for Braves I were made by Game MVP, Darren Hughes and Iain Grainger, both of whom are a great addition to the team from last season. Brave I players (points): Maritinez (6), Merchan (4), Radauskas (4), Grainger (2), Villa (7), Boxford (10), Laguarta (19), Hughes (9), Cherniavsky (8).
