Nothing fills me with more satisfaction than standing proudly courtside with hands on hips, chest out and chin held high whilst I see my young Brave 'men' embodying what I had envisaged when I first got them together as 'boys'. Gentlemen....."Thank you"
Our Braves took on the experienced and athletic Lockleaze, made up of ex-national league and universities International players in the Trophy last night. Under constant pressure, often being double sometimes triple teamed, our outstanding guards, Pau 'Manito' CARDONA and Malin 'The Don' WHITE, with the assistance of our forwards were able to repeatedly break the reportedly tenacious forecourt press of Lockleaze. Particular tribute must be paid to forwards Ben McFARLANE and Watson LEI. Boxing out on defense, rebounding both ends of the court, physicality in the paint, court awareness to set screens and find spaces in the opponents defense where they then went to work!!. Simply.....FANtastic!!!
But what this team has over most teams is a chemistry, a brotherhood a true team spirit which you can't conjure up. Its the individual characters and brilliance that link together to make the TEAM and mark my words, its will lead to even greater accomplishments. Malin was voted MVP of the match but 'Coach's MVP' goes to Watson LEI for his performance on the night.
<to the tune of 'Bad Boys' by Inner Circle> "BRAVE boys, BRAVE boys, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come for you...." <smiles>
