Bristol Bulls came out intent on reducing the deficit and they did just that. Braves didn't help matters by failing to operate their signature 'solid' defensive efforts and were then ineffective in transition and the final third of the court. It took till the last few minutes of the 3rd Qtr before Braves stated to click. Maybe complacency with such a big head start caused us to let the opponents catch us up and then we were forced to play them from a standing start.
Better basketball from Braves allowed us to trade baskets with our opponents in the end of the 3rd and then we started to pull away in the fourth with two spells of unanswered points. Bulls however, felt as though they deserved a win after battling so hard to remove our points advantage and so they kicked it up a gear. With about 40 seconds left they nailed a BIG 3pt'er in the dying seconds of the game they executed and a smart little sideline play to net a 2pt'er in the paint to take it into overtime.
The excitement and drama continued on as teams matched each other for points and defensive efforts. Nothing could separate the teams and we had to go to double overtime!!
It was getting late on a Sunday night and everyone was tired, not to mention the poor referee who had been running on a pulled calf since mid 2nd Qtr. Who would find that little bit extra in the tank???
Braves were he ones who came out triumphant but Bristol Bulls deserve applause for making that into a great game of basketball.
