Bristol Braves was founded in 2007 when a handful of graduates from Uni Bristol decided to stay and live in the city because they enjoyed the vibe and cosmopolitan nature of Bristol. They were no longer eligible to play for their university team, so they set up a team to play WEBBA Local League which would follow the ethos of 'Inclusion and Participation for All'. There are currently three founding members still involved in the club and during the years since 2007. Since 2007 the club has grown dramatically and now has three men's teams, a women's team and has ran a successful Participation League for two seasons.

Colin Gill (Club Founder / Head Coach 2007 - 2014)

Former Head Coach Colin Gill (pictured above with the 2013 - 2014 Ladies Team) almost single-handedly ran and oversaw the expansion of the club before a Committee was appointed in 2012 to help manage the rapidly expanding club. During his tenure Colin led the club to many on court successes from 2007 up to 2014, these included Repeated WEBBA Winners Titles and a Schools / Club Title in 2009 (when Braves helped Henbury School to win the title). Perhaps the greatest success that was achieved during this time however was in the Community where Bristol Braves assisted with lots of worthy school and community projects. This has in turn created a thriving enthusiasm for basketball in schools such as Merchants Academy where there was none before.

Colin continues to do a lot of hard work in the community himself and you can find out what he is up to on his own website: Brave Lifestyle. The Club remains indebted to the hard work of Colin Gill during these years and whole heartedly recommends his services.
